Janitor

Summary: Performs a variety of cleaning services for the facility and vehicles including offices, restrooms, meeting rooms, kitchen and break rooms, locker rooms, maintenance areas and bus areas. Also does light landscaping and grounds maintenance seasonally, including snow and leaf removal.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: Maintenance Foreman and Indirectly to the Maintenance Manager

Supervises: None

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be required to perform job-related tasks, duties and/or responsibilities other than those specifically presented in this description.

Duties and Responsibilities;

1. Cleaning of maintenance areas and bus operating areas using appropriate equipment and supplies at the Expressway Travel Center Facility.

2. Light maintenance – painting, replacing worn, damaged or expired supplies or fixtures (i.e. lights), replacing carpeting or tiles, moving furniture or appliances, etc.; light repairs at the Expressway Travel Center Facility.

3. Cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, common areas, lounges, restrooms, etc., using appropriate equipment and supplies.

4. Cleaning includes carpets, floors, walls, windows, furniture, appliances, decorative items, furnishings (drapes, etc.) in the facility as well as around the property (sidewalks, etc.).

5. General seasonal work on the grounds – light landscaping, snow and leaf removal, weeding, trimming, fertilizing, etc.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; must be literate and able to communicate effectively; prefer prior cleaning, janitorial or light maintenance experience (2-4 years); able to handle physical aspects – bending, reaching, climbing, carrying, moving objects, operating equipment; able to work with cleaning substances and materials; attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

· Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check, along with a medical examination including drug screening.
