Gem Academy is looking for a full-time associate to oversee the academic portion of the Gem program and classroom, as well as assist in business development. The position has freedom in the schedule while the students are working to do your own school work for distance learning.

Gem is the nation’s only long-term residential treatment program for adolescent obesity that focuses on emotional and physical health. We are a program of 10 girls or less (so a small group). Our ideal candidate would:

• Be passionate about the work they do and understand the privilege we having in serving the young women and families we do.
• Be a self-starter who is organized, detail oriented and delivers at a high level
• Work in a collaborative way with program, clinical, dietary and fitness departments to form best practices for a balanced and healthy (both physically and emotionally) culture.
• Be excited to work and participate in a health based and active environment including modeling behaviors.

Duties include:

• Support students in the enrollment process to ensure a smooth transition into GEM and ensure that the online classes the students are enrolled in will lead to an on time high school graduation.
• Liaise with the online academic providers to act as the guardian and point of contact in the enrollment process, support efforts and transition process.
• Be familiar with documents needed for enrollment.
• Be aware of document and enrollment deadlines for rolling enrollment with digital academic providers.
• Become familiar with policies of our academic providers as to ensure good working relationship.
• Support students in the classroom to ensure they are making adequate academic progress in their daily classes and implement any IEP/504 accommodations when required.
• Build policies and systems to ensure academic integrity
• Meet individually with students to set daily and weekly goals and monitor academic progress.
• Answer parent questions related to the academic program at Gem.
• Ensure a positive, productive learning environment.
• Recommend for hire, schedule and supervise highly qualified staff related to the academic program - monitors, tutors (if needed) etc.
• Develop a strong parent communication system.
• Plan for and Create ancillary learning opportunities for students during breaks in formal academics
• Troubleshoot tech issues with laptops, internet & providers
• Be timely in communication turn around with families, professionals and staff.
• Work to become versed in all aspects of the program to understand how the system works together for the betterment of our students.
• Support Executive Director in projects relating to Marketing, Data Collection, Alumni Relations, Event Coordination, and administration

Requirements:

• Bachelors level degree or higher
• 3 yrs experience working with youth
• Excellent organization and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience in Academics and/ or teaching certificate

Gem Academy is a solution based treatment program for adolescent girls who struggle with obesity. The format is that of a boarding school with a curriculum inclusive of high school general studies, nutrition and culinary, fitness, therapy, community service and experiential learning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $39,000.00 - $42,500.00 per year
