JOB SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Child Care Manager. Provides quality infant and childcare service for children of employees of the Hospital and Medical community.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Maintains the standards of childcare as established by the Department of Family Services and the State of Wyoming and CCMH policies and procedures. Responsible for the welfare, health and safety of the children in childcare.
  • Implements a daily program for the children based on the stages of child development. Plans activities and situations that promote problem solving and creative thinking for children. Documents observations to be placed on the CreativeCurriculum.net.
  • When appropriate records will be kept on each child to include time and amounts of feedings, diaper changes, hours napped, general attitude and activities.
  • Contributes to hospital functioning by participation in department meetings and activities and offers recommendations for improvement.
  • Attends and participates in continuing education offerings for childcare as required by the department and assists with orientation of new personnel.
  • Shows affections and enjoyment in interactions with children. Develops and maintains professional rapport with department customers and co-workers.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment. Participates in housekeeping chores of the department.
  • Alerts manager/coordinator’s when supplies are needed.
  • Actively participates in identifying, documenting, monitoring, evaluating, and taking corrective action for quality improvement. Actively prepares for and participates in all regulatory inspections/surveys.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the children and family information.
  • Adheres to CCMH policies and procedures.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Early Childhood classes or experience working with children.
  • Certifications required
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
  • Experience
    • Previous experience preferred
    • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills
    • Hand/eye coordination, legible handwriting, able to speak clearly, fine and gross dexterity.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • Must relate well with children, families, hospital staff, physicians and public.
  • Essential Physical Requirements
    • Ability to use appropriate body mechanics in lifting, positioning and/or transferring children.
    • May require sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Essential Mental Abilities
    • Attention to detail; able to read staff and children’s schedules. Requires ability to problem-solve; teach and explain, so children will understand.
  • Essential Sensory Requirements
    • Requires ability to see, hear, and smell. Requires ability to distinguish colors.
    • Ability to verbally communicate on children’s level.

Exposure to Hazards

OSHA CATEGORY II. Tasks that involve a potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Identified job duties do not include a reasonable anticipation for the potential contact with blood or contaminated body fluid but circumstances may occur which may result in the potential for exposure. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for employee (s) engaged in potential exposure situations.

Hours of Work | The CCH Early Childhood Center is open 5 days a week (M-F) from 5:30am – 8:00pm. Requires being able to work all shifts. Requires working outside at times in hot, cold, and/or wet weather. Requires working under stressful conditions.
