Position Summary

Responsible for Mercury’s technology vision, strategies, and execution. Develops and leads Mercury’s software engineering, architecture, infrastructure, corporate IT, and data privacy and security teams with an emphasis on innovation, engagement, and excellence.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead development and execution of the enterprise technology vision and strategy for the Company. Lead development and execution of the technical roadmap. Align Mercury’s technology strategies with the Company’s overarching short- and long-term objectives.
• Lead the scaling, development and evolution of the Company’s software engineering practice and operations with an emphasis on innovation, engagement and excellence. Ensure alignment of various teams within the technology organization in support of driving product value, while promoting team autonomy and empowerment. Transform the organization from a process focus to a product focus.
• Ensure technology practices and processes adhere to regulatory standards and best practices for data protection privacy, information security and financial reporting. Ensure strong up-time performance and reliability of the Company’s systems and software, including disaster recovery. Develop strong knowledge transfer mechanisms to support continuity and future readiness.
• Lead corporate IT teams responsible for network services, vendor management and contracts, service and support, information security and cybersecurity, and hardware and infrastructure.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

Experience

• At least 5 years as a senior technology leader preferred
• Experience as a CTO preferred

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience aligning a technology organization with its internal customers and overall business strategy. Demonstrated skill in organizing teams that deeply understand the business needs of their customers. Direct experience in product management organizations is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated skill in creating a strategic impact on the overall business through internal technology and leadership of strong engineering teams. Demonstrated strategic business impact includes cost reductions, but ideally encompasses the enablement of new business insights, new lines of business through technology improvements and/or significant scaling of the business.
• Experience strategically balancing tech debt and new development. Track record of successfully retiring legacy technologies.
• Experience in improving the quality of an engineering organization’s output and effecting changes to culture, process and software architecture to increase reliability.
• Ability to attract, retain, and manage talent while transforming a technology organization’s effectiveness. Experience managing large teams of distributed team members and achieving results primarily through effective leadership, inspiration, and empowered teams.
• Knowledge of modern data engineering practices, e.g. related to data orchestration, data warehouses, data observability and monitoring.
• Ability to balance short- and longer-term customer, product, and data-driven priorities across the organization.
• Ability to understand and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
