Are you an experienced Estimating leader with knowledge in CMAR, Design-Build, and Hard-Bid estimating? Are you a process-driven, self motivated team player that loves meeting deadlines? If so, this position is for you!

The Chief Estimator is the primary member of the preconstruction team who has overall responsibility for the estimating team. The Chief Estimator is responsible for the creation of budgets and estimates produced by the estimating team. The Chief Estimator is responsible for the oversight of the estimating process for all projects bid, and will establish standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating and training estimating resources.

The Chief Estimator will oversee analysis of past performance on projects and establish estimating standards for all future estimates based on such analysis. They will assist in oversight of the historical cost database, bid management, and estimating software.

The Chief Estimator has final word on procedures, processes, techniques and personnel decisions for assigned projects. The Chief Estimator works with the Executive Vice Presidents to oversee department standards for deliverables such as bid packages, deliverable formats and budget tracking tools.

The Chief Estimator will work in conjunction with Business Development, which supports the company s overall strategy in the private and federal markets. The Chief Estimator is responsible for ensuring that all required prequalifications and licenses are kept current. In addition, the Chief Estimator will review and prepare for execution of all contracts for new work.

Main Duties

  • Assign responsibilities for estimating team on each project
  • Work in conjunction with Business Development and Marketing to implement the corporate business development strategy for the company
  • Review project plans and specifications, and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope
  • Identify risk issues and order of magnitude
  • Screen appropriate publications for prospective jobs to bid; collaborate with the executive team to determine the best fits for corporate goals
  • Prepare and supervise preparation of bids for final submission
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design teams, specialty contractors, suppliers, and other groups that reflect and support company core values
  • Actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image
  • Coordinate and participate in the transfer of information on successful projects to the management team
  • Review, maintain, and develop processes for continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain historical cost data information
  • Review and prepare for execution of all contracts for new work
  • Perform other related duties as needed

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for the oversight of other teammates

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • This role requires the ability to work in a professional office environment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Adhere to Methuen s safety policies & procedures

Position Type

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position

Travel

Travel is occasionally required for pre-bid or client meetings, as well as site visits to jobsites located primarily in the Northeast. Travel outside the Northeast may be required, but on an infrequent basis

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years' experience in the construction industry
  • 5+ years' experience performing takeoff, pricing, and functions of a senior estimator
