Accountability and Scope
The Chemical Lab Technician is accountable for representing Wesco Aircraft values, quality, and commitment, and performing value added functions of chemical management on the customer site. This person is responsible for consistent interaction with various customer site personnel in a lab and/or production environment. They are expected to perform routine laboratory assignments as it pertains to samples received of various chemical agents including, but not limited to lubricants, oils, fuel, and coolant. Additionally, this employee will be responsible for supporting a safe and hazard free workplace, specifically in chemical materials handling processes, procedures, and utilizing all required Personal Protective Equipment. This position requires the utmost level of professionalism in the face of the customer and excellent correspondence skills using various methods of communication and comprehension of technical language.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent Wesco's vision, values, and objectives in all job-related activities, sustaining excellent customer relationships
- Maintain strong knowledge of Wesco products including, but not limited to, hardware, chemicals, tooling, and electric components, services, inventory systems, quality requirements, and customer plans and specifications
- Receive, verify, and catalog product sampling and documentation to ensure accuracy of product and processes required for analysis
- Prepare samples for testing procedures
- Perform sample analysis of chemicals that are submitted by both internal and external customers and/or of bulk deliveries, as required
- Sampling processes are inclusive but not limited to: Viscosity, Total Base/Acid Number, Specific Gravity, X-Ray Fluorescence (Total Sulfur), Distillation, Particle Count
- Document analysis updates and results in company/customer/supplier quality portals/inventory management systems
- Provide professional feedback regarding conforming and/or non-confirming product to internal and external customers
- Maintain a clean working environment including, but not limited to processing waste solvent, fluid disposal, and lab supply cleaning (glassware)
- Maintain adequate stock levels for performing required processes in the customer site's laboratory
- Respond to hazardous material releases and provide spill clean-up according to Safety & Health standards while utilizing and interpreting chemical detection devices and associated equipment, as required
- Provide assistance to the lab and chemists on the customer site, as required
- Actively seek and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Accommodate special requirements which may be established by the customer/ supervisor, including but not limited to work schedule changes, required overtime, working holidays, and weekends, as needed
- Follow established work procedures to assure compliance with all customer site requirements in accordance with safety

Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Education •
High School Diploma or GED is required
- Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field, such as Chemistry, Chemical Management, Engineering, etc. is preferred; and/or a lesser degree with pertinent job-related experience may be acceptable ·
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience pertaining to chemical compatibility (Balancing pH levels, etc.) and lab procedures, required
- Demonstrated basic knowledge in advanced analytical techniques in: Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Liquid Chromatography (LC), Gas Chromatography (GC), FT-IR required
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills utilizing technical language to communicate effectively in the laboratory environment
• Proven familiarity and experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems • Haz Training (40 Hours) preferred
- Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with professional daily interaction with internal and external customers, serving various levels of the company

- Demonstrated knowledge and/or competency pertaining to chemical compatibility (Balancing pH levels, etc.) preferred
