Job description
Under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care, the Chaplain provides spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers fostering spiritual resources for healing. Spiritual care is a component of healing, so meeting others where they are and helping them in the midst of troubled waters is a vital part of the Chaplain’s role. As a Chaplain, you will serve patients’ needs, touch lives and make lifelong impacts.
The ideal future caregiver is someone who:
- Is an experienced hospital Chaplain.
- Is grounded in their own faith.
- Supports those of all faiths as well as those who are not comfortable with religious beliefs.

Responsibilities:
- Provides education and consultation for physicians, nurses and other clinical employees.
- Spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Master of Divinity or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
Languages:
- English
Certifications:
- Certification as a Board Certified Chaplain (www.bcci.professionalchaplains.org) or eligibility for same within two years, or certification as an ACPE Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education
Complexity of Work:
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Counseling and support for all faith groups, ages and conditions.
- Crisis and on-going care.
- On-call and regular work hours.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Work Experience:
- 1 year of ministry experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient.
- Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing to be able to hear normal conversations.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
