Job Overview:
We are seeking a Committee Member and Chairperson to join our team to evaluate and analyze pertinent information related to the computation of Lake Michigan Diversion at Chicago. As a Committee Member and Chairperson, you will be responsible for performing technical and administrative tasks associated with the committee's activities. The Committee shall consist of three members, and the Chairperson shall provide administrative leadership and coordination regarding the activities of all three members.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review available engineering data and pertinent reports, drawings, and specifications related to the computation of Lake Michigan Diversion at Chicago.
  • Perform field inspections during field trips for information purposes, including visits to water reclamation plants, pump stations, and deep tunnel facilities, and other pertinent surface and groundwater flow source sites.
  • Attend technical workshops during the committee's convening period and exchange information with the government and parties to the Supreme Court decree.
  • Review information provided by the Government and obtained through other sources, including examining the current method of computing the diversion and evaluating alternative methods using state-of-the-art hydrologic and hydraulic methods.
  • Prepare draft and final reports of the committee, including coordinating the activities associated with the preparation of each draft report and the final report of the committee members, ensuring consistency in the overall formatting of the latter product.
  • Respond to the comments on the report obtained from all parties of the litigation as well as from the Corps of Engineers, the United States Geological Survey, and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
  • Act as administrative liaison between the committee members and consolidate the draft reports of the committee members into the committee draft report.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant field, including experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and flow measurement techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
