Willapa Behavioral Health is in search of a compassionate, flexible, and self-motivated, well boundaried Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Substance Abuse outpatient team.

  • Schedule Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts - occasional flexible hours for events, etc.
  • Competitive salary, including pay for performance – eligible for Pay for Performance quarterly bonus of $500.00 per quarter, $240.00 wellness initiative, and $500.00 annual for self-development workshops. Training enhancing organizational goals paid at 100%
  • National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program site $50,000 - 2 years’ service

Willapa Behavioral Health is an outpatient treatment provider. We are nationally accredited and have provided high quality care with experienced professionals to Pacific County since 1986. Services include mental health programs for adults, children & families, case management, chemical and problem gambling treatments, peer services, domestic violence perpetrator treatment, co-occurring disorders, medically assisted treatment, psychiatric prescribing, trauma sensitive primary care, and 24/7 mobile crisis services. We have grown, to three locations, and feel that that is the sweet spot for us. We do not wish to grow larger as we would like to preserve our unique culture and foster a culture of kindness and family.

Duties:
The Peer Support Specialist of the Substance Use Disorder Program uses lived experience to develop comprehensive care plans for identified needs, and monitors the delivery of services for individuals with Substance Use Disorder receiving all forms of SUD Treatment to improve both behavioral health and physical health outcomes. This position requires a thorough understanding of the process and possibility of robust recovery for people diagnosed with substance use disorders.

  • A Washington State Certified Peer Counselor Certificate from the WA State Health Care Authority or meet requirements for Washington State Certified Peer Counselor certification and have obtained within 3 months of hire date.
  • Self-identify as a person with lived experience with mental health or substance use services or be a parent or legal guardian of a child with lived experience with mental health or substance use services.
  • Travel to:
  • appropriate trainings and educational opportunities locally and region wide, where appropriate.
  • jail(s) to meet people getting ready for release to establish relationships and invite them to treatment.
  • hospital(s) to meet people who are using substances to help enroll in services.
  • Transport clients to groups or appointments to help them achieve their treatment goals.
  • Must have facilitation skills and be comfortable presenting to groups.
  • Must practice strong boundaries with the ability to step away when situations are being dramatized or manipulated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency to document in the electronic medical record (EMR) and utilize telehealth and Microsoft office suite.
  • Undergo and pass criminal background check upon initial employment and any subsequent checks required by the agency.
  • Meet requirements of agency’s drug free workplace policy.
  • Excellent customer service with a client focus.
  • Able to sit, stand and move for long hours at a time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, good driving record to qualify for WBH auto insurance coverage.
  • Able to drive in daylight, darkness, and typical Northwest weather conditions.
  • Flexible to fill-in shifts if needed.
  • Meet healthcare vaccination requirements
