      The Certified Nursing Assistant performs direct and indirect patient care of the neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient as directed by their supervisor. Provides patient care support, maintenance of nursing unit, housekeeping, dietary tasks, and patient requests. Provides transportation and ensures safety of patients throughout hospital transports. Some of the major job functions include but are not limited to:
      • Obtain vital signs on the Adult and Pediatric Patient
      • Performs EKG’s and blood glucose measurements as directed
      • Assists patients with mobility using SPH equipment when necessary.
      • Assist patients with meals, nourishment, personal hygiene and mobility
      • Transport patients to other hospital departments
      • Keep patient care areas and equipment clean
      • Welcome patients/families upon admission, assists with orienting patients in use of call light, television and bed functions, obtains standing admission height and weight, provides patients with information regarding hospital policy and smoking, valuables and unit routines
      • Answer patient call lights
      • Maintains patient comfort, privacy and safety
      • Assists with housekeeping and dietary task as assigned by direct supervision
      • Performs duties as indicated in performance standards
      • Documents per unit and hospital policy
      • Maintains annual required certifications, safety and infection control inservices in addition to educational contact hours to meet requirements
  • Qualifications
      Education:
      • High School Diploma or GED preferred
      Experience:
      • Previous health care experience preferred
      Licensure/Certification/Registration:
      • State Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing
      • Current BLS through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

      Additional Skills/Requirements required:
      • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form

Schedule: Full-Time, 12-Hour Nights, 7P-7A
