Certified Nursing Assistant/CNA (FT)
Job description
Shifts: 3pm - 11pm
Pay: $21/hour ($1 shift differential for 2nd shift)
The ideal Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) candidate has experience caring for residents with dementia and working in long-term care. The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides for the daily personal physical, psycho-social and spiritual needs, activities of daily living, and comfort of our residents by our established policies, procedures, and team standards.
CNA Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care to residents so that overall appearances are clean and presentable; this includes checking and cleaning colostomy bags.
- Regularly check/provide appropriate care and stimulation to residents needing specialized attention, including observation of the skin and provision of care related to the prevention of skin breakdowns.
- Answer call lights, verbally or in person within 60 seconds.
- Maintain resident functional abilities at optimum level by using restorative devices and programs as ordered.
- Ensure residents’ nutritional needs are satisfied promptly by transporting them to the assigned dining area, and assisting with meals and/or feeding, as required.
- Encourage residents to participate in/coordinate and adjusts schedules to ensure residents can attend church services and other activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting living environment for residents by keeping rooms, dining areas, halls, and other common areas clean.
- Follow facility policies and procedures for infection control by practicing standard precautions and following OSHA guidelines for handling blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- Handle all soiled and/or bio-hazardous items in an appropriate manner to avoid contamination.
- Read, understand, implement, and evaluate residents’ current Plan of Care.
- Using our MRS, update all resident-related information and complete other administrative responsibilities.
- Ensure that the charge nurse is notified promptly of changes in resident condition, family and or resident concerns, malfunctioning equipment, material shortages, and other pertinent observations.
- Attend all team meetings which occur when on duty and other mandatory in-services.
- Annually complete training required to maintain state certification.
Education & Experience:
- Pennsylvania State Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Ability to relate to and work effectively with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel and communicate with residents based on whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning at.
- Must have knowledge and competencies for age-specific interventions.
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and applicable booster.
