Job description
Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Catering Manager responsible for assisting the Director in all aspects of catering management that adhere to non-negotiable standards of quality and hospitality, and client expectations. Must be available to work as follows: Monday-Friday, 7a-4p (nights & weekends as needed).


What you will do:

  • Oversee booking/scheduling, planning/communication, execution, and follow-up for all campus-catered events as well as any outside clients. Schedule, plan, and execute periodic special events in the dining room and retail venues.
  • Lead, prepare and drive promotional efforts through social media and other marketing resources, as appropriate, to drive location popularity, and customer engagement.
  • Consult with customers to determine their catering requirements and propose MG catering options; organize venues/equipment, supervise catering staff, and coordinate the preparation and serving of food during events.
  • Plan and collaborate on menus for catering events with the Director of Dining Services and Executive Chef and ensure adherence to the company brand, recipes, and presentation.
  • Initiate periodic communications with client representatives on all of the above to provide updates on efforts and results, to garner their feedback, and ultimately to assure activities are in keeping with their vision for such venues.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with ABC agents; be present during ABC inspections.
  • Maintain ABC tracking: event reporting, inventory, sales, and purchases; annual MBAR report.
  • Proactively engage with catering customers to assess satisfaction and make adjustments to meet expectations; handle customer queries and complaints responsively and professionally.
  • Maximize profitability (and/or minimize subsidy in a fee setting) by setting/meeting sales targets, and motivating staff to do the same.
  • Assist the Director in maintaining financial records of catering operations and overseeing pricing and stock control.
  • Assist leadership in assessing staffing needs, purchasing, and maintaining inventories for beer, wine, and spirits for restaurant and catered events.
  • Lead by example; engaging and developing direct reports and team members through ongoing support, monitoring, coaching, feedback, and training.
  • Foster an inclusive environment for all staff, clients, and guests, while maintaining effective and appropriate client and customer-centric relationships.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practices.


What you need:
  • Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination. Exemptions available upon request
  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check
  • Associates Degree or 3-5 years of Catering/Hospitality management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting and driving catering programs
  • Working knowledge of current Social Media and Marketing trends required
  • Experience using online Food Management Systems preferred
  • Growing knowledge of sustainable practices
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Participative management style, emerging leadership skills, and strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships.
  • ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification preferred
