As a key member of the SK Food Group North American Division Procurement Department, the MRO Category Manager manages specific food categories for the entire SK Food Group Division. Responsible for providing reliable and cost-efficient procurement solutions, while managing existing vendor relationships, to include cost negotiations, dispute resolution and strategic supply chain management. Responsible for managing Category costs, reporting on market conditions, and providing cost avoidance solutions. Works collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure distribution of all parts and supplies related to equipment maintenance and repair production facilities continuity of supply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage component categories for entire SK Food Group Division. Category management responsibilities in the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation) equipment category to manage the sourcing related activities and processes for non-food materials,
• Provide strategic plan and vision for the category to ensure quality, continuity of supply and competitive pricing.
• Identify preferred suppliers and develop a contract and work strategy for minimum qualifications.
• Supports programs and initiatives to reduce complexity and promote standardization of categories and processes.
• Review Category component pricing and rebate monthly to ensure accuracy between supplier quotes, ERP/TabWare system, Finance Department and Buyer execution.
• Provide semi-regular updates to Division regarding market conditions that are affecting your designated categories.
• Negotiate category component pricing, delivery terms, payment terms and contract terms with new and current vendors.
• Negotiate Long Term Contracts with emphasis on cost reduction.
• Use ERP/TabWare computer software to manage material pricing, generate reports, create forecasts, and manage supplier scorecards.
• Generate RFP & RFQ’s with external suppliers for your categories.
• Work with New Product Development, Commercialization and Quality Assurance teams as needed in launching new products.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance and Buyers in creating supplier forecasts, and review with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.
• Work closely with the Buyers and Finance Department to ensure pricing accuracy, best buying practices, and implementation of best negotiated prices.
• Maintain and create solid relationships with suppliers through business reviews and align categories with strategically selected vendors.
• Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Suppliers to resolve and implement any needed long-term corrective action plan.
• Drive continuous improvement of supply chain efficiencies, cost reductions and cost avoidance for categories.
• Collaborate with Transportation and Logistics to implement the best landed cost strategy for your categories.
• Travel to existing and potential Supplier facilities to conduct onsite business reviews and identify any potential threats or opportunities to supply chain.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, and at least 7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret market forecast indices, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to communicate with associates, clients and suppliers by e-mail and phone.
• Understanding of the food industry and logistics processes and procedures.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of and experience using ERP systems.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
• Working knowledge of planning and purchasing computer systems.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
