Cashier

Description:

Ride a boat to work and experience island life! You will be working in a truly unique location as The Maritime Market is located on Bald Head island 3 miles off-shore and accessible by ferry or barge only. The ferry departs from Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC located about 2 blocks before reaching the Fort Fisher State Ferry landing. As a Market employee, you will be provided paid parking and tickets to ride the ferry to and from the island daily.

Cashiers operate the cash register and are expected to account for items purchased by customers, receive exact payment and appropriately bag or box items for transport.

The Head Cashier supervises this position.

Essential Functions:

• Operate cash register to account for purchases made, receive payment by way of cash, check or charge card then process transactions and/or make change as needed. Package purchases for transport by customer.
• Stock areas around registers to include candy, newspapers, and crackers, etc. May be responsible for the ordering of some stock items.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area; clean doors and windows.
• Ensure customers have a pleasant experience during check-out.

Additional Functions:

• Special Requirements: Stock store items, sweep floors and performs other related work as requested by management. Answer telephone and respond to inquiries.

Requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.'

Job Duties:

• Operate all aspects of the register, including cash and card transactions, scanners, and scales
• Maintain an accurate cash drawer, ensuring that all transactions are accounted for by the end of the shift
• Answer any customer inquiries, and use your knowledge of store layout and product content to give directions as needed
• Assist customers with bagging and carrying products as needed
• Maintain a clean work environment, keeping register clear for incoming customers
• Other duties as requested
