Salary range: $16.32 to $17.57 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs skilled carpentry activities which include, but are not limited to, home roof repairs, window, door, and floor repair/replacement, sheetrock installation, framing, bracing, trim and foundation work, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing carpentry tasks relating to home repair utilizing appropriate procedures and techniques.
  • Responsible for adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for all issued tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for performing assigned tasks under limited supervision.
  • Responsible for removing job debris from the job site when work is completed.
  • Attend all required training and maintain required certifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Conduct work in a moderate-paced environment.
  • Majority of work centers on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of low to moderate-income homes and Agency buildings to provide a safe comfortable environment.
  • Upper body strength to lift 85 pounds and carry 100 feet and move heavy loads using materials handling equipment.
  • Lower body strength to stand/walk throughout the workday.
  • Climb various ladders and scaffolding somewhat frequently relative to other tasks.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Local travel to meetings and site work areas.
  • Environmental demands include moderate exposure to weather conditions and various airborne particles of sawdust, insulation, and common dust.
  • Work is performed in limited and inaccessible areas frequently.
  • Frequent exposure to various supplies containing hazardous materials or chemicals.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Must have two (2) years of paid employment as a carpenter.
  • Skill in operating standard carpentry shop equipment and tools.
  • Possess dependable transportation and a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • Skill in making accurate measurements.
  • Skill in maintaining quality in work performed.
  • Knowledge of and skill in general safety practices and techniques for working in a shop environment.
  • Be physically fit with no limitation on performing duties.
  • High School graduate or G.E.D. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-to-year basis.
  • Have no non-qualifying physical requirements.

DESIRED:

Certification from a vocational-technical school course in carpentry.

This position is considered safety sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Therefore, those applicants testing positive for marijuana will not be hired even when in possession of a valid medical marijuana license.
