Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the RN, the Cardiac Technician performs 12-Lead EKG competently. Ensures that lead placement, techniques and use of equipment reflects hospital policy and procedures. Prepares and instructs patient about stress test. Demonstrates and promotes compliance to infection control, legal and safety standards. Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization. Applies good verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.

Performs 12-Lead EKG competently. Places EKG leads accurately and utilizes equipment according to hospital policy and procedures.

Prepares and connects patient for Holter monitoring according to standards.
- Prepares and instructs patient about the stress test. Connects patient to monitor and assists physician during the stress test procedure. Takes vital signs and operates equipment according to standards.
- Prepares, teaches and instruct patient about the test or procedure.
- Processes EKG orders and paperwork for patient chart, billing and departmental files.
- Provides appropriate teaching for patient/family considering age specific, cultural, physical limitations, psychosocial, religious and special needs of the patient.
- Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, performance improvement, and quality planning activities.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Minimum of one-year recent experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
- Must work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Previous EKG experience required.
- Satisfactorily completes the orientation program and at the end of the probationary period and meets the minimum standard requirements.
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete a Cardiac Rhythm Class.
Licensure/Certification:
- Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.

The hourly rate range for this position is $17.28 to $22.68.
