Job Summary:
Employee will work in a team environment to design and install clean agent, alarm & detection fire protection systems. Individual work will include all aspects of the system design including CAD layout, code interpretation, design submittal, coordination, and material procurement. Individual will also continue support of the project through installation and turnover to the Owner. Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD or other 3D drawing programs. AutoSprink or other fire sprinkler design software experience is a plus
- Strong oral and written communications skills; ability to professionally communicate with all levels of leadership, customers, and employees.
- Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, ability to be resourceful and proactive when completing duties
- Firm grasp of project management from the design handoff through project turnover.
- Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
- Strong mathematic and analytical skills, ability to coordinate and work well with others
- NICET certification, RME-G certification, and/or project management experience is a plus
- Previous experience in commercial, industrial, and/or residential design is a plus
- Willingness to assist with miscellaneous projects as needed.
- Education: Applicable degree from a technical school or college
Responsibilities:
- Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project s sprinkler system
- Maintain contract documents throughout the life of the project and ensure changes from bulletins, addendums, ASI s, CCD s, etc. are addressed and processed
- Coordinate with other departments within office to ensure proper receipt and handover of job design information, both from Sales to Design and Design to Field
- Thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities
- Create detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoSprink design software
- Perform hydraulic calculations and seismic bracing calculations
- Coordinate our design drawings with other building components via job site meetings or 3D/BIM software and Navisworks
- Create stock list for all material required throughout the project
- Get price quotes, order materials and schedule deliveries
- Make initial jobsite visit once materials are on site and the installation has commenced to ensure that field personnel have the correct materials, plans, and direction
- Visit each jobsite at least once monthly; walk through the jobsite to view and audit the installation and assist field personnel with design and coordination issues
- Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers expectations
- Conduct surveys of existing buildings and fire systems and accurately transfer the information into CAD
- Perform Project Manager functions as required
- Maintain design and project historical records for future use
- Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor or other VFPG management personnel
- Assist as required for estimating takeoffs and estimates
- Produce design concept drawings and hydraulic calculations for sales presentations
- Other duties as assigned and as the business needs adjust.
