Currently, we are seeking Cableway Subject Matter Experts to join our team! This position will support our Surface team and is located in Virginia Beach, VA.

What You Will Do...

• Can direct all phases of these programs from inception through completion.
• Sets objectives for local and remote locations, and providing guidance to subordinate supervisors and sailors based on NAVSEA and company goals and policy.
• Directs all operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management, planning, project teams, line and operational management, ships chain of command and the shipyard.
• Responsible for the overall day-to-day activities of supervising cableway shipboard teams and customer interface.
• Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources.
• Works from blueprints, tech manuals. Receives instructions on semi-routine and difficult assignments. May provide training and guidance to lower levels.
• Performs all necessary tasks (semi-skilled and unskilled) laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of systems and equipment.
• May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
• Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures.
• Performs customer support activities involving the installation, modification and repair of complex equipment and systems.
• Adapts equipment or system to satisfy unique requirements.
• Conducts on-site installation of equipment and follows established testing procedures to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action.
• Trains customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities.

What You Must Have...

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 8 years of related experience, to include specific systems expertise. Prefer technical/professional certifications.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a confidential security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain all necessary base credentials

Preferred: Bonus Points For...

• Has a thorough knowledge of the installation requirements contained in MIL-STD 2003, NAVSEA 9090-310, NAVSEA Standard Items, and the 9304.1.
• Certified NAVSEA Cableway Instructor with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Certified NAVSEA Cableway Program with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
• Certified in Program Logic controllers.
• Have instructor or teaching credentials navy or civilian with minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Have a marine electrical background with a minimum of 15 years of experience. Former Navy preferred (EM, IC, ET, FT, FC).
• Certified NAVSEA Cableway inspector with 10 years of experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards,under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
