Position Summary
The Buyer/Planner is a dual role responsible for the daily performance management of our external suppliers & planning of production orders in support of the Cambridge Springs Plant. The Buyer/Planner's primary responsibilities are to establish the necessary flow of purchased material into the plant to meet agreed upon customer delivery schedules. The incumbent also has the authority to set priorities in the master production schedule and coordinates with shop floor supervision to execute their plan. This critical decision-making role manages material availability, along with machine and labor capacity to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as primary interface with suppliers & manages all activities related to planning, inventory, delivery, & lead time. Minimize inventory while maximizing customer service.
- Managing the department's order backlog to achieve on time delivery to customers and mitigaging late orders as needed.
- Reviewing order changes, customer requests for delivery/order status and resolution of customer issues and concerns.
- Convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders.
- Review & execute MRP exception messages.
- Create production orders within the department as needed.
- Analyzing forecasts vs. actual demand vs. planned supply and making necessary adjustments to the plan.
- Scheduling production needs within shop floor production areas to ensure supply plans are achieved.
- Managing subcontracted services to facilitate on-time shipments to our customers.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities and provides suggestions for cost reduction and improved efficiency
- All other tasks facilitating on time shipment of quality products to satisfy customer needs while controlling inventory, past due, and cost
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 1-2 or more years of related experience.
- Understanding of inventory management processes and tools
- Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and be able to clearly explain them in writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Accurate work and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with high tolerance for interruptions and changing priorities
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of SAP and scheduling transactions
- Experience in Aerospace manufacturing plants or Aerospace products.
