Objective:
This position has two areas of responsibility:
1. Coordinate commercial Purchasing activities for indirect material & services to (1) efficiently meet production requirements for the Michigan facilities and (2) achieve Global (Group) Purchasing objectives.
2. Provide seamless support to Operations on supplier-related issues.

Primary Responsibilities (includes the following, but other duties may be assigned):

  • RFQs: Prepare bid package, distribute to suppliers, analyze bids and create sourcing summary. Bid analysis to include commercial and non-commercial data (Incoterms, payment terms, lead times, availability, etc.).

  • Supplier Selection: Make sourcing recommendations to the Commodity Manager based on the following criteria:
  • achievement with annual savings targets
  • "total delivered cost"
  • collaboration/consensus with Operations team (Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain Management) and Engineering
  • alignment with regional and global commodity strategies

  • PO's/ Contracts: Issue blanket and spot buy purchase orders, and support purchasing contract development in AX 2009/2012 systems and NORMA Store.

  • Data & Reporting: (1) Complete weekly and monthly reports on supplier performance on behalf of multiple facilities, (2) maintain supplier contact and commodity databases and (3) enter pricing and volume in budget tool.

  • Operational Support: Provide support to the three plants and interface with Regional Purchasing as required.

  • Invoice Reconciliation: Work with suppliers, Operations and Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies.

  • Supplier Visits: Monitor suppliers via formal visits with pre-defined agendas; complete trip reports as required.

  • Commodity Strategy: Support Regional Commodity Manager with data collection and analysis to develop mid-term and long-term strategies. Work effectively with commodity teams in other Regions to develop and implement global strategies, where applicable.

  • Maintain close working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain high professional ethics and behavior; adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Be self-motivated and proactive with an inquisitive mind.
  • Able to work in a dynamic, growing international group with processes, procedures and systems not completely defined and not uniform across all sites.

This position reports to the Regional Commodity Manager.

Bachelor's degree, plus two (2+) years related experience
