CONTROLLER / BUSINESS MANAGER

Job Description:

The Controller / Business Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial and internal business operations for four green industry companies.

Manage all accounting activities and business operations including budgeting, billing, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, inventory, tax compliance, audits, cash management, collections, job costing, advertising & marketing, IT, insurance, leasing, HR and more.

Manage a staff of administrative employees.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines. Maintain a chart of accounts and general ledger.

Prepare financial and operating budgets, provide status of business condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting monthly, YTD and annual financial and administrative data.

Provide leadership, management and direction to administrative staff. Maintain office staff by recruiting, selecting and training employees

Develop and manage all marketing and advertising initiatives.

Work with Insurance partners to achieve maximum benefits while maintaining cost controls. Including health, dental, life, auto, workers compensation and liability insurance.

Manage and oversee activity for billing and cross-charges to inter-companies.

Maintain vehicle & equipment financing and leasing data for tax exempt business, and file monthly state taxes.

Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information

Requirements:

Must have detailed knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, and possess excellent computer skills.

Deep understanding of business finance

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop and implement the goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the business.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Possess mathematical and analytical skills

Exceptional problem-solving skills

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions

Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with executive level managers, third-party partners and internal team, both verbal and written.

Positive attitude, energy and a team player

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration

Ideal candidate has 5 – 10 years’ experience in a similar position
