Overview::
Are you an engineering student who is passionate about how building communication technologies are planned, designed, and implemented? Do you have interest in developing a career helping to create new building occupant experiences by leveraging integrated systems and data within intelligent buildings? If so, we are interested in talking with you, as we are looking for professionals to join our Building Technologies team in HGA's Boston, Milwaukee or Minneapolis office(s).

HGA has an exciting opportunity for a talented, ambitious Building Technologies Staff to join our national practice.

This is an engineer/design position working within the Building Technologies team designing technology systems and producing construction documents. This position will work directly with our senior engineers/designers to develop technology solutions for our clients based on project requirements.

We recognize that there is a wide range of low voltage building systems. The ideal candidate will have interest in one or more of following technology areas with a strong desire to learn and expand knowledge with new technologies, such as:
  • Wired and Wireless Voice and Data Networks
  • Audiovisual systems including presentation, digital signage, etc.
  • Security systems including access control, video surveillance, duress, etc
  • Real Time Locating Systems
  • Building Management/Automation Systems
  • Nurse Call Systems
In this role you will::
  • Work closely with senior technologists to design and document technology systems as required for our projects and well in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Develop systems design documentation in a collaborative manner working with other team members and under the direction of senior technologists. This will include narrative system descriptions, functional diagrams, floor plans, wiring/connectivity diagrams, system flows, bills of materials, specifications, and others
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and self-motivated who can proactively track and work towards assignments, managing workload within a team environment and seeking assistance when needed
  • Understand and be comfortable with the use of Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite preferred
  • Be clear, concise, and succinct in written and oral communications; familiar with basic report writing
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills will be needed to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other team members
You will need to have::
  • A B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other applicable design and engineering fields
  • The willingness to obtain certifications in their low voltage specialty
  • The ability to obtain Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred
  • The willingness to seek and obtain new certifications as needed to perform the role
