Position Summary:
The role of the Blow Molding Machine Operator is to operate and monitor performance of the machinery, perform quality inspections, detect and correct defects in bottles, changeover machine parts and service the machine per the Total Productive Maintenance/Autonomous Maintenance standards set forth by the company. This role conducts quality tests, isolates equipment issues, removes/replaces failed machine components and determines failure modes by studying worn/failed components and/or machine reports. The Operator adheres to all safety standards, identifies, and reports any unsafe conditions.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Efficiently and effectively operates blow molding machine, associated equipment and quality verification equipment.
- Understands the equipment flow process/standard work order process.
- Accesses, understands, monitors and corrects machine alarm conditions.
- Understands blowing process and adjusts the equipment process to produce a quality bottle and prevent defects.
- Diagnoses and corrects operation issues i.e., broken oven lamps, incorrectly fed preforms, discharge jams, etc.
- Maintains an adequate supply of raw materials for the machine.
- Ensures that the machine and associated equipment is changed over in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Maintains accurate records/logs, as required.
- Performs and analyzes quality checks, as required.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues while working with the maintenance team to resolve any issue adversely affecting the machine’s operational status.
- Reports any critical equipment mechanical issues to the maintenance team/manufacturing team supervisors as well as follows the standard work order process for non-critical issues.
- Effectively communicates with management, engineers, mechanics and other operators any condition that is or will adversely affect the machine and associated equipment’s performance.
- Complies with all standard safety practices, safety rules, good manufacturing practices and all other company rules and requirements.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED and 1 plus years of experience working in a production environment
- Strong math and problem-solving skills
- Able to work under pressure during stressful situations
- Able to work a flexible shift as determined by business needs
- Able to maintain work standards for safety, quality, service and cost
- Must obtain a Hi-Lo License
- Must pass a mechanical aptitude test
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
- Associates degree from Trade or Technical school
- Experience working in a food or beverage production environment
- Valid Hi-Lo License
