Job Summary
Job requires understanding of specific needs of customers and knowledge of billing functions. Responsible for timely billing and follow-up on accounts with commercial and managed care insurance. This may include liability and auto insurance claims.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for verifying coverage, rendering billings, and initiating follow-up on all commercial Medicare and Medicaid insurance accounts
- Regular duties include reviewing insurance accounts and ensures that all information is in the file at the time of admission
- Processes claim forms on insurance accounts
- Reviews in-house file and directs problem accounts to the attention of the supervisor
- Answers all inquiries concerning commercial, Medicare and Medicaid insurance accounts or refers the inquiries to the proper source for handling
- Prorates balances on accounts according to insurance benefits verified
- Periodic duties include initiating follow-up to insurance carriers to ensure prompt handling of claims
- Creating and processing collection letters
- Arranges long-term payments
- Properly work self-pay queue’s on accounts
- Transfer accounts to/from collection groups and bad debt collections
- Verifies workers compensation claims and enters comments on accounts
- Occasional duties include assisting in the training of new employees as turnover requires
- Posting of electronic remits
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years Experience in a detail oriented or public contact work environment preferred
- Experience in a customer service or clinical setting. preferred
- Experience in computer technology. preferred
- Experience entering data into electronic systems while maintaining high accuracy. preferred
