We are seeking an accounting professional to join our Financial Operations team in Richmond, VA. As a General Accountant focused on Billing and Accounts Receivable, your primary duties will be the execution of client billing, reconciling, and posting payments, and having regular communication with our Account Managers and clients to resolve issues, and necessary status reporting.

Job Responsibilities

As a General Accountant on our team, you will apply your expertise in receivables accounting to the complete billing lifecycle. You will accurately create invoices based on consultant timesheets and client specifications. You will also be responsible for maintaining records for audit purposes and assisting with collections.

Your specific duties as a General Accountant will include:

• Maintain time and expense system of record (e.g. opening new client projects, assigning resources, establishing billing parameters according to client SOW etc.)
• Compile timesheet and expense report data to create invoices in multiple formats
• Distribute invoices by various means and according to client specific requirements
• Reconcile and post customer payments
• Accurately report invoice details to various constituencies
• Ensure compliance with client procurement and AP policies
• Lead the follow up efforts related to open receivable balances
• Communicate with clients as needed specific to billing/invoicing
• Status reporting as required
• Retrieve and compile audit data as necessary
• Other projects as required

Specific qualifications for the General Accountant position include:

Required

• Minimum of 3 years Billing Experience
• Excellent attention to detail and superior follow up skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build both internal and external relationships
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment
• Excellent organizational skills
• Flexibility with ever changing requirements
• High commitment to client service, both internal and external
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Systems and Tools: Microsoft Excel required

Preferred

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; or work experience equivalent
• Systems and Tools: Workday
