Job Title: Bilingual Literacy Manager

Reports to: Literacy Director

Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Description

The Literacy Manager will facilitate bilingual literacy programs at Mighty Writers El Futuro Kennett working directly with youth and families. They will teach and support an aggressive lineup of out-of-school programs running six days a week and work diligently to engage and promote leadership among volunteers.

Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in related field

● Minimum 2 years related experience

● Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English and Spanish

● Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills

● Strong computer skills, including but not limited to proficiency with meeting platforms like Zoom and Google Meet; Google Workspace; MS Word; and spreadsheet processing

● A passion for building and serving rural immigrant communities

● A strongly held commitment and dedication to the success of Mighty Writers

● Proven ability to develop good rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds, including children, teenagers, parents and volunteers

● Ability to work well with others and under pressure

Literacy responsibilities

● Serve as lead writing instructor for youth in one after-school Academy program (3-6 p.m.) five days/week.

● Serve as an on-site writing instructor for designated classes.

● Support and/or implement the following:

o Recruitment and retention of youth in all programs

o Volunteer engagement and retention

o Active engagement of youth in on-site and/or off-site writing programs o Communications with families regarding on-site and/or off-site writing programs o On-site internship program that may include college and high school students o On-site mentorship program

o On-site and citywide data collection as requested by the organization

o Youth writing process (writing samples, writing assessments, surveys and/or other).

● Support home site team in meeting all deadlines and deliverables requested by the organization.

General responsibilities

● Serve as co-lead to summer camp programs.

● Be a site champion of Mighty Writers, building community within and around the center.

● Support day-to-day opening duties, closing duties and general cleanliness of the site.

● Monitor student use and care for technology resources.

● Be a public face of the organization, representing Mighty Writers to youth, families and citywide partners.

● Remain knowledgeable and informed regarding any issues, regulations or professional standards that may impact Mighty Writers’ policies or operations.

● Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent or sensitive information.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
