SeaView Community Services is looking for a Staff Nurse to provide professional nursing care to individuals and families in our outpatient and residential treatment programs.
SeaView is the premier provider of Behavioral Health services for the Eastern Kenai Peninsula, serving as the Community Behavioral Health Center and offering key residential and outpatient programs in both Mental Health and Substance Use. SeaView works diligently every day to expand access and utilization of behavioral health services with the goal of improving the mental health status of our community and decreasing substance misuse. We are excited about the opportunity to add a new Staff Nurse to our team to support us in accomplishing great things for our community.

Location and hours:
This position will perform services at both residential treatment centers located in Seward, Alaska, as well as providing some home-based care for individuals receiving mental health services through our Assertive Community Treatment team. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is an in-person position that will require being located in Seward, AK.

In this position, you will:

  • Perform face-to-face and phone triage to assess needs and provide care to clients with behavioral health and medical conditions; use clinical nursing judgment to assess client’s compliance with and response to medications, review side effects, and consult with prescribers to adjust treatment as necessary; educate clients and their families concerning their treatment plan and help them to establish and meet treatment goals.
  • Care coordination of a panel of clients to ensure holistic needs are being addressed by the interdisciplinary treatment team. This may include communicating with other health care providers, therapists, case managers, schools, residential facility staff, family members and caregivers, and others involved in a client’s care. Participation in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assist prescribers in drop-in medication management visits; supporting medication assisted therapy treatment, performing and assessing vital signs, assess side effects, review allergies, and medication reconciliation.
  • Review and document pertinent information in Electronics Health Record (CareLogic) in accordance with SeaView standards.
  • Complete medication orders/refills in a timely manner according to SeaView established protocols after review of client record; clarify orders with pharmacies and provide information required for state medication monitoring programs.

Need to have:

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Be eligible or possess a valid license, in good standing, as a RN or LPN, issued by the State of Alaska.
  • CPR certification
  • A valid driver's license.
  • TB test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check and satisfactory driving record.

  • Experience:
  • Providing one or more years of professional nursing in behavioral health.
  • Working:
  • With underserved populations.
  • With adults experiencing homelessness and mental illness or co-occurring psychiatric/substance use disorders.
  • In a primary care clinic, home care, or performing care coordination duties.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnosis and psychopharmacology.
