SUMMARY

The AWS Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS cloud-based infrastructure used in support of customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing the AWS Secure Remote Worker Environment cloud infrastructure used to support business requirements
  • Maintaining and deploying applications used within cyber training ranges
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues with cloud infrastructure
  • Providing AWS expertise during the development of company AWS solutions.
  • Provides consultation to the Director of Cyber Operations and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) during AWS development activities
  • Designs and implements secure network solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Creates and configures virtualized systems in the AWS environment.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Cyber Operations, updates and maintains cyber training infrastructure
  • Deploys applications in AWS using EC2 instances, Cloud Formation, Elastic Beanstalk, AWS Directory Service, Amazon FSx, Amazon Route 53, Amazon WorkSpaces, and other AWS tools and infrastructure.
  • Implements testing and disaster recovery procedures across multiple availability zones.
  • Implements automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python and Perl) to manage AWS services.
  • Develops software components in Java/Python .NET that interact with AWS cloud services by leveraging AWS APIs.
  • Manages CI/CD pipelines used to enable continuous improvement of AWS Secure Remote Worker Environments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • One or more of the following AWS certifications: AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or others
  • 5+ years of experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS Backend Engineer, AWS Developer, or AWS Cloud Admin
  • 3+ years of experience as a multi-tenant support AWS Engineer - Solid hands-on working experience with configuring and maintaining resources on AWS
  • 3+ years of experience with Databases (Redshift, DocumentDB, MongoDB, PostgresSQL)
  • 3+ years of experience with EC2 instances (configuration, EBS, snapshot, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience with S3 / EMD
  • 2+ years of experience with writing Python scripts to develop bulk Redshift loads
  • Successful project experience deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing AWS cloud-based production system, with demonstrated skills ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of productions systems
  • Demonstrated project team and consulting experience for either external clients or internal departments
  • Network Configuration (VPC, Subnet, ACLs, Elastic IP, ?)
  • Security (IAM, Policies, Root user policies) - Expertise with cloud security, such as managing users, roles, and privileges through IAM & Root user

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to configure and manage Amazon WorkSpaces
  • Ability to create and manage VPCs as well as private and public subnets within VPCs
  • Knowledge of AWS Directory Service
  • Ability to launch, configure, secure, and network Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) servers and Amazon Machine Images (AMIs)
  • Knowledge of AWS Referenced Architectures
  • Knowledge of AWS and Hybrid networking and security best practices

While performing the outdoor field duties of this job, the employee will also be exposed to outside weather conditions and other conditions such as loud noises, fumes, odors, dust, etc. This position may require travel.
