Come join the Nordson EFD team as an Automation Engineer Supervisor! In this role you will be responsible for independently coordinating and/or performing activities to implement new processes/equipment, and managing the activities required to continuously improve throughput and uptime of manufacturing equipment. This position is also responsible for the daily coordination of department personnel numbering between 5-10 employees.

How YOU will make an impact:

  • Supervise and coordinate a department of 5-10 automation technicians ensuring proper machine maintenance, spare component and PM processes are in place.
  • Proficient in Design/Drafting Tools AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Programming Logic Controllers (PLC) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Omron)
  • Configuring and designing HMI systems (e.g., Allen Bradley. PC)
  • Familiar with Industry Standards UL and CE
  • Familiar with various Motion Controllers/Actuators
  • Experience and skill in troubleshooting control system issues
  • Desired - experience with Vision System programming (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
  • Desired - experience with Robot programming (e.g., ABB, Fanuc)
  • Drive continuous improvement through the design of assembly process and equipment, supporting both quality and productivity advancement, utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods.
    • Manage all aspects of capital equipment procurement process including specification, vendor selection, design review, approval, and installation.
    • Prepare detailed cost justification and secure capital asset approval for equipment projects.
    • Redesign/modify components/systems as required to ensure long-term manufacturing reliability.
    • Participate in the revision of existing product designs in support of Manufacturing activities.
  • Participate in the New Product Development process engineers to create/ensure the ability to manufacture products on a production scale.
    • Manage the Validation / Verification Process for New Equipment release.
  • Coordinate activities within the Automation department ensuring personnel are attentively overseeing and repairing all automation equipment to the standards of the organization.
    • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of customer complaints where engineering support is required.
    • Focus on continuous improvements on our automation equipment and looks to assist in integrating that into the molding department.
    • Create/modify Control Plans used to monitor component and assembly quality during manufacturing. This includes designing any tests and fixtures required for this purpose. (In-house and Outsourced production)
  • Ensure that engineering documentation is appropriately maintained and controlled per ISO practices.
  • Practice good housekeeping and appropriate measures to prevent pollution or other negative impacts on the environment.

Qualifications To Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fast-paced automation field
  • Previous supervisory experience with proven ability to positively influence progress and change.
  • Experience with SolidWorks software
  • Advanced Electromechanical Skills
  • Fluent in 3D modeling of parts, mechanisms, and assemblies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft office products including Project, and Excel
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to top management and to implement ideas that improve the process.
  • Six Sigma Certification, Black Belt preferred.
