CAD Job Description

SUMMARY:

You will be working for Dynamic Engineering and will be assigned full time to a Fortune 10 company. Their Joliet Refinery CAD group, where you will be assigned, is considered to be among the best in this company’s US circuit. You are expected to be proficient in AutoCAD and will be trained in data management, proprietary systems, and procedures. If you are able and willing to learn and work as part of a team, your value to the group will increase substantially during the first few years of your employment. Your responsibilities and pay will increase accordingly. This is an excellent opportunity to grow in a rewarding environment.

You will develop and maintain 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD. Drawing types are Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, General Layouts, and Piping Plans, Sections and Details. In addition to technical ability, you must demonstrate sound communication and interpersonal skills and must be willing to learn. This is a long term, entry level job which requires strong AutoCAD knowledge, such as an Associate’s Degree in CAD, but it does not require work experience. You will be trained. Starting pay ranges from $23.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour. Overtime premium is 50% above straight time rate. There are no benefits. There is some flexibility to the work schedule.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transform complex sketches of piping, vessels, and related equipment into AutoCAD drawings – Perform or assist in field verifications of drawings. -Develop plan view drawings, isometrics, details, schedules, and data sheets. Revise drawings based on instructions from engineers. - Communicate and work with other members of the team. Interface with management and engineers across disciplines. – Provide document control support, database administration support, and progress reporting. -Keep supervisor informed of progress, deviations, and execution concerns.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree in CAD or equivalent. - Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and changing priorities - Proficient in Microsoft Office suite - Read, write, and speak fluent English. - Cooperative with a positive attitude and able to work in a team which is functioning at a high level of competence.
