Audio Visual Operator/Trainer
This is a year-round, part-time position with the responsibility for leading the
Audio Visual (AV) department. The AV lead will take responsibility for operating and maintaining the AV equipment and training volunteers on the Audio Visual (AV) equipment and live streaming of the church services at John Wesley United Methodist Church (JWUMC) in a manner that enhances the worship experience for in person or virtual participants.
General Requirements
- The AV Operator/Trainer possess a strong Christian faith, and will reflect the ethics, values, and standards of Jesus Christ.
- The AV Operator/Trainer understands he/she represents the JWUMC ministry in both work life and private life, and will be sensitive to how others may see him/her in daily life.
- AV Operator/Trainer will adhere to the policies and procedures of JWUMC. Including, but not limited to the responsibilities of this position.
- AV Operator/Trainer will be subject to the Criminal Offence Record Investigation (CORI).
Job Specific Requirements
- Will possess the skills to operate the sound board, video tower, remote cameras and initiate live streaming for virtual participants.
- Have experience or education in operating and maintaining AV equipment.
- Have the ability to learn how to operate the JWUMC AV systems.
- Have the ability to train JWUMC AV volunteers to operate the equipment in support of the AV department’s mission.
- Have experience in video editing.
- Has the ability to install portable PA systems for outdoor services.
- Ensure information displayed on the screens at the service is easily viewed by the congregation.
Supervisor
Primary supervision will be by the Worship Ministry Team Lead. The Staff Parish Relations Ministry Team (SPRMT) shall maintain responsibility for hiring the position and performing annual performance reviews. The SPRMT will appoint a liaison to provide support to the employee.
Work Hours
- Two and a half hours every Sunday for the 9:30 service.
- Two hours for the Summer beach side service starting at 7:30 on Sundays from July through Labor Day in September.
- Three hours weekly for video editing and preparing and editing presentations for display before, during and after the service.
- Will dedicate the hours necessary to become familiar with the AV equipment and operations of the cameras, microphones, projectors, and live stream launch. Hours TBD upon hiring of the AV department lead.
- Will establish training classes for the volunteers that support the AV department’s mission. Hours TBD upon hiring of the AV department lead.
September through June
- AV Operator will attend all church services with support from the JWUMC volunteers.
- Be available for funerals, weddings, special services, or other events as needed.
- Train volunteers to support the JWUMC AV department
July through Labor Day
- Attend the 7:30 Sunday beach service at Surf Drive to install and run the PA system.
- Attend Sunday 9:30 Service at JWUMC.
- Be available for funerals, weddings, special services or other events as needed.
- Train volunteers to support the JWUMC AV department
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the AV department ensuring that the AV systems are used to full capability to support the worship services.
- Setup and maintain the Facebook and Youtube live streaming during the service.
- Train the JWUMC AV volunteers on the AV equipment and live streaming to support the AV department’s mission.
- Edit the church service video for posting on the JWUMC website and FCTV.
- Coordinate with the Pastor and Worship Committee for any special consideration as needed for services
- Be available to support Sunday services and special services (such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday) funerals and weddings as needed.
- Maintain a schedule for volunteers to support the AV department mission.
- Ensure the equipment is in operational condition and work with vendors for repair and replacement of equipment as needed.
- Create and edit PowerPoint and other presentations to be projected before, during and after the service.

Performance Evaluation
- There will be a three-month probationary period beginning from the first date of work. AT the end of this period, the SPRMT will conduct a performance evaluation.
- There will be an annual performance evaluation conducted by the SPRMT and the Supervisor.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
