Position Focus:

Reporting to the Manager of Classroom Technology & Event Services, this position will supervise Professional staff, as well as student employees, in coordinated audio/visual equipment rental and support services for Yale University events, conferences, symposia, and classes.

Manage, supervise and review M&P employees that support classroom technologies and University events. Supervise distributed support center. Consult with clients during the planning stages of events to determine audio-visual support needs and recommend solutions. Responsible for communicating video, photographic and related support needs to internal and/or external service providers. Evaluate external audio/visual service providers and establish a reliable pool of technical resources for support of University events. Maintain a working relationship with departments that support event coordination to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures (e.g. Registrar’s Office, Conference Services, Networking Services, Center for Media Initiatives, Risk Management, Security, etc.) Develop, implement and keep up-to-date event manual that will outline general processes for coordinating audio/visual support for University events. Supervise external support providers that administer audio/visual services for University events. Estimate per event cost and coordinated payment of services, including weekly preparation of cost transfers and credit card payments. Perform site inspections to identify equipment needs and ensure safety of operations. Arrange for storage and security of equipment and facilities as appropriate. Advise the Manager of Classroom Technology & Event Services on matters concerning event staffing and operations. Train and schedule work crews, students and staff members concerning audio/visual support services for University events, including appropriate communication with presenters, specialized support needs, dress code, etc. Act on behalf of the Assistant Manager of Classroom Technology & Event Services as appropriate. Maintain accurate event files and records. Produce quarterly report concerning support metrics.

Essential Duties

1. Supervises and monitors non-standard systems production work. 2. Oversees the activities of team and shift employees and supervisors within a department to ensure smooth and timely production schedules. 3. Evaluates policies and procedures and recommends changes to maximize efficiency and service. 4. Communicates and coordinates needed repairs, upgrades and maintenance. 5. Works with systems personnel to resolve complex technical problems. 6. Maintains security and ensures adherence to departmental goals, budgets and expectations. 7. Participates in the evaluation of, and planning of staff within the area of responsibility. 8. Supervises and schedules staff of employees. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical field and a minimum of three years of related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
