JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AV System Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining audiovisual systems for our clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in AV systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop customized AV system solutions that meet client requirements and specifications, considering factors such as functionality, user experience, and budget.
  • Collaborate with sales and project management teams to create proposals, project timelines, and budgets.
  • Pre and post sales design and engineering.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate AV equipment and software, staying up-to-date on the latest industry trends and innovations.
  • Generate system schematics, signal flow diagrams, and detailed technical documentation to ensure smooth project execution and handover.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams during the installation and integration process, ensuring that all components are properly configured and functioning as expected.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AV systems, providing onsite and remote support to clients as needed.
  • Conduct system testing and commissioning to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide training and support to end-users, helping them maximize the value of their AV systems.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant industry certifications, standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance in all projects.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay current with emerging technologies to enhance our service offerings and technical capabilities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to CTO in their discipline team. Secondary accountability will be to the other management team members, employees, and customers of the company.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in AV system design, installation, and maintenance, with a strong understanding of audio, video, control IT and related software systems.
  • Proficiency in AV design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, D-Tools) and signal processing software (e.g., Biamp, AVB, Digital Media, Dante, Q-SYS).
  • Familiarity with various AV system components, including but not limited to: displays, projectors, audio mixers, DSP’s, microphones, speakers, cameras, AVoIP and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., AVIXA, CTS, Crestron, Biamp, Q-SYS, Extron).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel within the US as required for project installations and support.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be knowledgeable on commercial low voltage installations.
  • General knowledge of California Title 24 (e.g., ADA, CCR, PAR)
  • Familiar with AV industry infrastructure requirements (e.g., legends, callouts, display backing, AV equipment ventilation and power requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Industry-recognized certifications, such as CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I.
  • Experience in working with programmable and configurable AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX). System programming not required.
  • Knowledge of networking and IP-based AV systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is important. Regular use of the phone, IM platforms and e-mail for communication is essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Some light lifting of objects is required.
  • Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities also required.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
