Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Computer Programming, network design/administration, or a related field required; supplemented by three (3) years of experience in technical, mechanical, and electronic repair work, inventory control, data communications, or computer work, including work as a lead employee; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. May be required to obtain Georgia Election Officials Association Certificate.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The person in this position will maintain election equipment to ensure it is working properly for elections. Additionally, this person will train and supervise a technical support staff to assist with the maintenance and testing of our voting system.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Conducts equipment maintenance and perform related duties. Work with the Elections Systems Specialist to maintain all election equipment. The new voting system will include over 3,000 BMDs, over 3,000 printers, over 600 electronic poll books, hundreds of uninterrupted power supplies, and hundreds of equipment storage units. Equipment must be checked and, if needed, repaired following every use. This position must follow strict security protocols in order to ensure equipment is secured at all times. This position must also coordinate with elections staff, Secretary of State elections staff, and vendors to schedule preventative maintenance on the equipment.
Inventories equipment-related supplies. An accurate inventory must be kept of all equipment-related supplies. Supply items include, but are not limited to, toner for more than 3,000 printers, printer drums, printer belts, printer fusers, printer cords, BMD power cords, and all supplies needed to maintain election equipment.
Supervises Systems Specialists to ensure essential election duties are being accomplished. This position will supervise many temporary personnel during election times. During some years, temporary personnel will be at the Election Preparation Center during all 12 months, which means that this position will be supervising temporary personnel for all 12 months out of the year. This position must supervise the testing and preparation of election equipment to ensure that proper security, testing, and safety procedures are followed.
Planning and conducting Logic and Accuracy testing. This position will work with the Elections Systems Supervisor to prepare for public Logic and Accuracy Testing. This testing is performed before each election to ensure that all equipment to be used in an upcoming election is operating properly. This will include the testing of the tabulation equipment to ensure votes are recorded accurately. For a Presidential General Election with the new voting system, more than 4,000 pieces of equipment will be tested.
Performs election database modifications as directed by the Elections Systems Supervisor. Determines inconsistencies between tabulation database and information in Fulton County Voter Registration File. Coordinate with elections staff and Secretary of State elections personnel for the appropriate corrective actions.
Coordinate with other staff to ensure equipment is prepared and available for poll worker training. This position will work with other elections staff to ensure that poll worker training equipment is tested and prepared for upcoming training cycles.
Assists the Elections Systems Supervisor with election night reporting. This position will assist the Elections Systems Supervisor with election night reporting by performing a variety of duties, including organizing media storage devices from advanced voting locations and Election Day precincts and preparing them to be read by the tabulation system.

Other Requirements:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
