General Duties:
- The Assistant manager will act as the Supervisor on Duty in the absence of the Residential Manager.
- The Assistant manager must be able to provide direct care services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- The Assistant manager is responsible to interview, select, train and supervises all direct care staff so as to provide a safe and therapeutic environment.
- The Assistant manager is responsible to develop a master staff schedule and to determine the hours to be work by all direct care staff so as to provide reasonable coverage based on individuals needs.
- The Assistant manager will deploy the direct care staff and direct their activities to include teaching ADL skills, manage individuals behaviors, and provide recreational opportunities and a clean environment.
- The Assistant manager is to ensure that critical log entries are made relative to staff supervision and evaluation.
- The Assistant manager is responsible to handle all complaints to include but not limited to sexual harassment, intimidation and hostile work environment issues.
- The Assistant manager is to administer discipline within the guidelines agreed upon with the Union except when issues are considered egregious and/or abusive where discretion must be used.
- The Assistant manager is responsible to plan the activities of the direct care staff through floor, task or activity assignment to include but not limited to cleaning, recreation, cooking, driving, medication administration and recording.
- The Assistant residence manner will supervise the delivery of active treatment, nutritional, nursing, medical, behavioral, educational and recreation services in consultation with the discipline specific clinician.
- The Assistant manager is responsible to interface with IAHD purchasing and receiving departments in obtaining needed supplies, tools and merchandise to include but not limited to medication, paper goods, food, protective gears and cleaning supplies.
- The Assistant manager will maintain the supplies in a secured location so as safeguard the agency asset. At the discretion of the Assistant manager pantries, freezers and supplies closets should be kept in a locked fashion.
- The Assistant manager is to ensure the safety of the staff and individuals through taking prudent and reasonable actions as well as safeguard the agency assets.
- The Assistant manager will represent the agency in a positive light and have no conflict of interest.
- The Assistant manager will handle and direct all outside inquiries from the media and all regulatory/law enforcement entities to the CFO or designee.
Educational Requirements:
o A Bachelor in psychology, social work, special education on related field with three years’ experience in combined clinical/managerial capacity.
o A high School diploma and at least three years of experience in a supervisory capacity within the Human Services field, be AMAP and SCIP-R certified, have a valid New York State driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to direct staff, be responsible and have the disposition to lead and coach.
- o He/she must provide direct and situational intervention when a individuals behavior requires it, including crisis prevention and physical crisis intervention.
- o He/she must be capable of assisting in the evacuation of individuals during fire drills and other emergency situations.
o He/she must be capable of assisting non-ambulatory individuals in transferring from wheelchairs or other situations for toileting.
Required Skills:
· Must be able to drive a 15 passenger van
· Must have excellent communication skills
· Knowledge of IRA regulations
· Must be highly organized, able to work under pressure and multi-task

· Must maintain professional attire
