The Assistant Pastry Chef will support our mission by creating an exceptional culinary experience for the gueststhrough preparation, cooking and food presentation. Responsible for operating the pastry section of the kitchen while working closely with the Pastry Chef and Chef de Cuisine for Draft, Cannonball, Beach House Grill.

What will you do:

  • Responsible for all aspects of daily production of pastries, artisanal breads, and desserts while ensuring that food quality and service meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manages all day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Responsible for facility sanitation, cleanliness and monitoring facility equipment.
  • Create new pastries and dessert items.
  • Develop creative customized cakes and baked goods for banquets, weddings and other special events.
  • Ensure excellent quality throughout the dessert offerings while maintaining existing recipes and standards.
  • Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products.
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking and monitors stock and place orders to minimize shortages.
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.
  • Assist other location and areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chef de Cuisine.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience as an Assistant Pastry Chef
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a high-volume restaurant or theme park.
  • Knowledge of food recipes.
  • Knowledge of food recipe development
  • Knowledge of proper food handling requirements.
  • Skilled in organization and planning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to constantly stand and exert well-paced mobility for a period up to four hours in length.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and squat on a frequent basis to receive and store stock, supplies and equipment as well as to work the line during service periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to supervisors, employees, vendors and guests.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
