THE JOB:
As an Assistant Manager Room Service, you will be responsible for the supervision of the room service area. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.
THE DAY TO DAY:
- Manage, direct, and supervise all department employees; prepare work schedules to maximize effectiveness of the department in terms of service and labor costs
- Initiate changes in classification, salary action, transfer, and separation; coordinate weekly schedules and vacations; and monitor individual performance and meet with employees to discuss performance issues periodically
- Hire and train new and existing employees on job duties; counsel Room Service employees, and document all actions taken
- Assist guests who call for a private function with the selection of food and beverage items to meet their particular needs; oversee the set up and service at cocktail parties, private functions, and special Food and Beverage functions
- Coordinate activities with other Food and Beverage Departments as necessary to ensure all functions are ready on time and run smoothly
- Assist Telephone Dispatchers, Cashiers, and Checkers if problems arise
- Ensure that all guest checks are properly completed and credited to the proper account, the authorized signature(s) are indicated on all complimentary food and/or beverage orders, and ensure deliveries are logged and accounted for
- Maintain all Room Service equipment and ensure that materials are cleaned and polished after each use and return to the Room Service area; ensure liquor is returned to the service bar and the appropriate paperwork is completed
- Perform other job-related duties as requested
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in scheduling a staff of fifty or more employees, product ordering as well as inventory control experience
- Able to lead and mentor a team
- Proficiency of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
A GREAT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
- Bachelor degree from a four year college or university
- Course certification from an accredited Culinary Institute
- Two (2) years of management or senior level position work experience in F&B management including Room Service
- Experience managing employees using a Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Product ordering as well as inventory control experience
- Experience working in a similar resort setting
- Money handling experience
