Position Description

The Grounds Department maintains a strong team centric atmosphere with emphasis on either promoting from within, or placing assistants into equipment manager roles of their own through external opportunities. Via our lead Equipment Manager, Wilmington Country Club has placed five assistant equipment managers into positions of their own.

Wilmington Country Club is looking for an Assistant Equipment Manager (AEM) to join the agronomy team. The AEM will work closely with the Head Equipment Manager, and in concert with the first assistant equipment manager, golf course superintendents, assistant superintendents, and will report directly to the Director of Golf Courses and Grounds. This position is an opportunity to learn golf course mechanics from a 33-year seasoned veteran of the industry.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to a clean and organized working environment.
• Setting mowing equipment for adjustments, sharpening or daily maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair equipment with communicating any downtime to your superiors.
• Possess working knowledge of internal combustion of differing engine types.
• Organize and maintain inventories using generally accepted accounting principles.

The training you will receive include:

• Reel technology and theory, along with grinding techniques.
• Reel geometry as it pertains to bed-knife angles.
• Welding and fabrication skills for equipment repair.
• Understanding hydraulic systems, as it pertains to the overall vehicle performance.
• Understand operation of all equipment as it relates to the game of golf.

Requirements, Benefits & Opportunities:

Candidates possessing the right attitude in alignment with our culture will be strongly considered regardless of any formal education. The individual must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a length of 20 feet.

Previous mechanical experienced is preferred, but willing to train the right individual. Candidates with interest in long-term employment with the Club will be strongly considered regardless of prior experience.
