Summary:

We are searching for an Assistant Director of Supply Chain Management - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide support in the planning, direction, management, and coordination of materials related functions in support of the organization's mission and vision. You will also provide assistance to the Director in meeting operational and fiscal objectives as they relate to asset management, and supply and service expenses.

Minimum Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • 5 years progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain including 2 years management/leadership experience required
  • Knowledge of current Supply Chain technology, practice and Supply Chain information systems.
  • High-level contract negotiations, systems analysis techniques, purchasing techniques, warehousing and inventory and purchasing and distribution of healthcare materials/services.
  • Clear understanding of commercial code of ethics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate and promote team development, problem solve, analyze cost savings and promote vendor relations.
  • Ability to operate personal computer, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Also requires organizational ability, time management skills, competent resolution skills and tactical planning skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the direction of the functions and operations to be performed by the Purchasing and Contract departments
  • Provides leadership, training, and develops the operations team by addressing staffing, recruiting, personnel issues and operational issues
  • Develops departmental policies and procedures as necessary and reviews existing policies and procedures for accuracy at least annually as measured by review of policy and procedure manual by the Director
  • Provides support to the Director in developing and maintaining procedures and relationships to ensure service provided by the department operations and outsourced vendors are cost effective, contractually compliant and serve the needs of all customers
  • Leads in developing and maintaining an environment that promotes a "Customer Service" attitude and facilitates process improvement efforts
  • Performs special projects at the Director's request, as observed by project reports submitted to the Director of Supply Chain
  • Oversees the activities of the Contracts Administration group. Provides direction to the Contract Manager concerning personnel, contract, and departmental issues
  • Ensures that The Joint Commission requirements specific to your department are fulfilled but also understand the linkage between your department's requirements and those of the integrated delivery system
