The Monterey County Health Department is seeking a candidate with proven executive management experience and fiscal experience within a large health and/or human service environment to fill a vacancy for the position of
Assistant Director of Health Services
. The
Assistant Director has direct responsibility for the management of the Department’s Animal Services and Public Administrator/Conservator/Guardian Divisions and the Administration Bureau, which includes Finance/Budget, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Privacy and Compliance functions, and serves as the Department’s Compliance Officer, responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal Health Care program requirements in the areas of regulation, fiscal, operations, and policy . This position is At-Will and works under general direction of the Director of Health.
The Health Department provides a wide array of services within its Administration, Animal Services, Behavioral Health, Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Health, Clinic Services, Public Health, and Public Guardian/Conservator/Administrator Bureaus/Divisions. The Department oversees approximately 150 programs at its more than 40 sites across the County. The Department’s FY 2022-23 annual operating budget is $355 million with 1,218 employees.
