JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Controller oversees the workflow of the Finance Department. Main responsibilities for this role include monitoring and improvement of the accounting processes, particularly the accounts receivable and billing processes.
The ideal candidate is familiar leading a diverse team, knowledgeable of accounting principles and procedures, system implementation and monitoring, and managing financial transactions from end to end.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises the billing staff by monitoring the invoice process, deadlines, and submissions.
- Works to ensure invoices and cash receipts processed in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP guidelines.
- Participates in departmental meetings.
- Assists in the review of policies and procedures to make the Finance and Accounting Department best in class.
- Updates the daily, weekly, monthly financial metric reports for internal company and corporate use.
- Monitors the Accounts Receivable process to ensure compliance with Helix billing & collection policies.
- Assists Controller with analysis of financial data and reports.
- Administers the constructive and timely performance reviews of the billing staff and collection staff.
Experience:
- Four-year college/university degree in Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of accounting or relevant experience
- Thorough understanding of policies, procedures and workflows used in accounts receivable and customer billing.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Organization skills and attention to detail.
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and team-oriented mindset.
