Purpose
To participate in the planning and delivery of academic advising services and programs that promote comprehensive educational opportunities for students in the Moody College of Communication, consistent with the goals of timely graduation.
Responsibilities
Provide high quality, high-touch, and customer-service driven academic advising to a designated caseload of students across all Moody College of Communication majors.
Advises in a hybrid environment (in person and online via Zoom), individually and/or in small groups on academic plan of study, important college and university deadlines and other academic matters consistent with timely graduation.
Tracks academic progress of all students, particularly those with academic difficulty, and monitors students on scholastic probation; Creates and maintains official degree profiles; Records each student contact on Advisor’s Toolkit Notes
Assist with one or more of the cross-functional responsibilities of the Undergraduate Education area which may include but are not limited to: freshman and transfer orientation, First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) or Transfer-Year Interest Groups (TrIGs) planning and implementation, and or working with exchange students in Moody.
Lead and participate in one or more First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) or Transfer-Year Interest Groups (TrIGs) by building community with a small cohort of students, monitoring student mentors, planning weekly lessons, scheduling guest speakers and educating students about campus resources.
Fully participate in all Moody College of Communication signature events and programs which include but are not limited to: Honors Day, Family Weekend, CommUnity and Gone To Texas, Graduation Recognition Moments and Commencement events, and Freshman/Transfer Orientation.
Hold active membership with the Academic Counselors Association (ACA) on campus. Serve on Moody College committees and/or university-wide committees as appropriate.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity, or Masters Degree in a related field.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of experience working with college students or in an academic counseling capacity. Experience working with educational, co-curricular and/or interdisciplinary programs at a college or university. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Experience developing and leading workshops, programs or special events. Knowledge of UT policies, procedures, course offerings, and degree plans, and experience advising students about their degree plans.
Salary Range
$40,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Standard office environment with the possibility of Flexible Work Arrangement, or hybrid, schedule.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
