The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented and capable of working with their hands for 2-6 hours at a time. The successful candidate is self-driven, responsible, and can be relied upon to complete work on a remote basis by a stated deadline. In-person training and collaboration may be required 2-4 days per week. In person business hours are flexible, between 8am to 6 pm M-F. Work may be done after hours as flex time, on a remote basis. This position involves repetitive craft tasks such as folding, cutting, gluing, assembly, and packaging of boutique handcrafted gift merchandise. The ideal applicant has a sincere eye for quality control, and possesses the high standards of a handcrafted artisan.
This job is a contracted position, and will require filing of IRS 1099 forms. Pay is based on production, on a piece-work basis. This pay schedule allows the contractor to work flex hours, and set their own pace (while also meeting production requirements). Work that does not meet the quality standards set during training will not qualify for paid piece-work. Minimum production is expected to be 8-10 hours per week, with additional income opportunities during the holiday season, October thru December. On average, pay is expected to be $400-$1200 month, depending on the contractor’s speed of production and the incoming online order volume. A contract detailing the terms and expectations of the position will be provided to the chosen applicant.
This job represents a unique opportunity for an artistic individual to earn a supplemental income while having some flexibility to work from home. Homemakers, students, and others are encouraged to apply. Strong applicants will be able to provide:
- Samples of their own handcrafted creations.
- A smoke-free, pet-free space in their homes for doing craft projects, including a safe space to store a small amount of Company materials necessary for completing the work.
- Reliable transportation to/from the in-person workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Work with hands up to 2-6 hours at a time to create components and/or finished products.
- Monitor inventory needs.
- Assist with general business needs not related to product creation (e.g., light office work or cleaning/organization of common craft areas).
- Occasional heavy lifting (25 pounds).
- Work with the following paper crafting materials: glue, industrial tape, paper products, magnets, paperclips, rubber bands, sharp instruments (paper cutter, razor knife), scissors, ink, graphite, and other related materials.
- Work within proximity of the following skincare materials (not all potential allergens are listed): coconut oil, hemp oil, beeswax, over 50 different essential oils, vitamin E, carrier oils, industrial strength alcohol, natural preservatives, and other related materials.
