Wet Pets is a locally owned, small business that has been in operation for over 20 years situated in the center of Vernon, CT. We are a specialty aquarium shop with a focus on coral reef and planted systems while catering to aquarists of all experience levels. Currently, we are looking to hire a full-time assistant store manager with prior fishkeeping experience to support in-store operations.

As part of a small team, position responsibilities will be wide ranging but will include:

• Routine maintenance on aquarium life support systems o Feeding, element dosing, cleaning, etc.
• Responding to customer’s questions and concerns (in person, over the phone, and over social media)
• Livestock collection
• Managing inventory for both livestock and product
• Staff supervision
• Maintaining a clean and presentable storefront

*Position will also come with optional opportunities for out-of-shop aquarium service work*

Successful candidates should possess:

• Prior fishkeeping experience (2+ years) o Saltwater keeping experience preferred
• Customer service experience and strong communication skills
• Driven work ethic and personal flexibility

Other requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Flexible schedule with ability to work weekends

Compensation:

The starting pay for this position will $17-20 per hour depending on experience level. The position will also have ample opportunities for overtime with additional sales commission after first couple of weeks.
