In this role, you will engage clients and review current and upcoming projects and RFPs.

  • Job Title: Application Engineer - Power Systems & Electric Vehicles

  • Reports To: Lead Application Engineer

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Job Location: Based in Huntersville, NC

What you will do:

  • Initial engagement to review project for feasibility
  • Understand strengths/weaknesses of our solution and focus on high value locations
  • Site visits to review existing infrastructure
  • Optimize site designs to fit the Atom Power EVSE solution
  • Compare cost/benefit analysis of our solution vs competitors
  • Understand all applicable codes and standards
  • Understand Balance of System for all required equipment
  • Review drawings for accuracy before submission to AHJ
  • Review internal submittal package before submission to customer
  • Walk contractors through drawings and installation process
  • Understand points of confusion to reduce chance of mistakes
  • Develop reports and design documents, including electrical plans, equipment
  • Record feedback to improve working documents

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years in electrical design engineering
  • Expertise with the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards, UL, SAE, and ISO EVSE standards
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support site visits and client meetings
  • Expertise with three phase and single phase AC power systems

We'd love to see:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PE License
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience in power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent
  • Experience in PV, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, microgrid, or substation
  • Experience working with field contractors
