Warwick Community School & Warwick School DistrictAnticipated Opening 2 nd /3rd Grade Classroom TeacherThe Warwick Community School and Warwick School District is Massachusettss newest publicschool district. Nestled into the scenic woodlands, along the border of Massachusetts, NewHampshire and Vermont (map), our beautiful and innovative elementary school will open in the fallof 2023. The school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus that features a vernal pool and cranberry bog.Mother foxes can be seen raising their cubs right outside the classroom windows. We have manyschool gardens and plan to build more to support both our curriculum and our lunch program.As we plan to open, we are seeking elementary school teachers who are committed to place andproject-based learning and to teaching students in and about nature.Teachers who are a great fit forour school will be committed to teaching in multi-age classrooms and using standards-aligned,evidence based, engaging curricula for deeper learning. We are also looking for teachers who will beexcited to take our foundational curriculum, built on the science of reading and units from suchorganizations as the Buck Institute for Education: PBL Works, Antioch University Center for Place-Based Education and EL Education: Expeditionary Learning and build upon it, centering studentinquiry. Our curriculum will also be both culturally responsive and personalized.We are seeking a 2 nd /3rd grade classroom teacher with a Massachusetts Elementary Teaching License(K-6). The ideal candidate will: - Have expertise with multi-age classrooms;- Have experience with place and/or project-based learning;- Have an understanding of the science of reading;- Have experience using evidence-based, constructivist math curricula and pedagogy, and- Have a passion for nature and enjoy spending time in the outdoors.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Exceptional Instruction1.
Plan and implement standards-aligned instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed Common Core Standards and MA State Frameworks.2. Assess student performance using formal, summative, and portfolio assessments to drive instruction.3. Use data to inform instruction, to track student progress and to track progress of ones own instruction through self-evaluation and goal setting.4. Differentiate instruction to meet varied student learning needs and strengths of ones students as indicated by personalized learning plans, IEPs and 504 plans.5.
Foster a classroom that is culturally responsive and inclusive.6. Actively explore, investigate and integrate our woodland campus into the curriculum and day with students as a fundamental component of our program.Life-long Learning & Collaboration1. Supervise, mentor and coach assistant teachers and/or student teachers who support your students.2. Collaborate on the development of place and project-based units and support students preparation and participation in community exhibitions of learning.3.
Engage deeply in regular professional development and collaboration meetings.4. Collaborate with special education and other support staff members to ensure the academic and social emotional well-being of all students.5. Be eager for life-long learning and model it through the regular sharing of ones teaching and student work with colleagues.6. Maintain active, positive and varied lines of communication with students families in support of their learning; communicate regularly throughout the school year about their childrens academic and social progress.Salaries are competitive with local districts and commensurate with experience.
