Department Overview:
Education: Support OHSU’s academic missions by participating in teaching nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, residents and fellows in the field of Interventional Neuroradiology. Duties may encompass but do not require scholarly activity in the use of diagnostic/interventional neuroradiology techniques to better our understanding of detection/treatment of diseases.
Performance Improvement (PI): Keep abreast of changes in field and applies knowledge to identify and recommend enhancements to clinical quality, patient experience/satisfaction, length of stay and to achieve improvement that demonstrates a higher standard of care.

The INR Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Neurointerventional Radiology. The APP in this role will provide medical management to inpatients and outpatients in Interventional Neuroradiology, as well on the inpatient units and in the outpatient clinic setting. Further, the APP is responsible to promote an interdisciplinary team approach; partner with the patient and family and nurse case manager on effective and timely discharges and flow of patients; provide positive patient experience, communication, and education; mentor students, residents, fellows, clinical nurses, peers and others; and contribute to improving processes, systems and patient outcomes.
Function/Duties of Position:
Patient Care: Assure the safe, efficient, high quality and customer oriented management of patient care to identified patient populations, including but not limited to inpatient rounding, inpatient discharges, patient follow-up by phone/MyChart, pre/post procedure care, and serve as an extension of the Interventional Neuroradiologists. The APP may perform detailed history and physical examinations; write appropriate orders and review lab results to insure acceptable limits; assist in development of patient care protocols and follow-up guidelines; administer drugs including narcotics, stimulants and depressants; write routine pre and post procedure orders as necessary; follow inpatients after procedures and writes appropriate orders as needed; write discharge orders and coordinates arrangements for follow-up care; perform vascular access and closure. Round on patients, write appropriate progress notes on patient charts indicating status of treatments and procedures performed.

- Master's Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.
- Current, valid licensing and credentialing as a PA or FNP by the State of Oregon.
- Certified in all basic and advance cardiac life support standards as established by the AHA.
- Eligible for state and federally controlled substance registration.
- 3 - 5 years clinical experience in a procedural care setting.
