The Pennsylvania Treasury Department is looking for a dedicated individual who is interested in a rewarding career in government service, where you serve others and the greater public good every day. The Administrative Officer I provides high-level administrative support to the Deputy Treasurer for Consumer Programs and the Bureau Director for Savings Programs as well as administrative support to all members of the bureau. This employee is expected to be technically skilled in the administrative field and have the ability to learn the policies and operations of the bureau in addition to topics specific to the Bureau’s savings programs – PA 529, PA ABLE, and Keystone Scholars.
TREASURY DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Pennsylvania Treasury Department is an independently elected office of state government led by the State Treasurer who serves as the department’s chief executive and as one of the largest state treasuries in the United States, it employs over 300 people and serves as custodian of more than $150 Billion. As Pennsylvania’s bank, Treasury plays a critical role in state government operations and acts as the custodian, investor, and disburser of the funds of nearly all state agencies. Treasury also offers a wide range of programs and services to Pennsylvania families, such as helping to make college possible with the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program; returning abandoned and unclaimed property to its rightful owner or heir; offering individuals a tax-free way to save for disability-related expenses with the PA ABLE Savings Program and providing a head start to education savings with the Keystone Scholars Program.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Prepares bureau specific reports, memos, letters, presentations, spreadsheets, and charts.
Drafts, proofreads and finalizes written bureau correspondence.
Answers inquiries or directs inquiries to the appropriate individuals or bureaus and determines the most appropriate method by which to address caller questions and concerns.
Conducts research, compiles data, and prepares documents for presentation to the TAP Advisory Board and corresponds with the Board.
Attends Board meetings to assist with presentation and manage attendee participation.
Prepares Bureau Purchase Orders and reviews and tracks the approval process of invoices for payment.
Schedules and handles meeting arrangements for the Deputy Treasurer and Bureau Director.
Assists with travel arrangements for the Deputy Treasurer and the Bureau Director.
Assists in compiling the Bureau’s annual reports and accurately documenting the Program’s yearly credit rates.
Prepares and submits training requests on behalf of bureau staff and maintains bureau training records.
Assists with identifying opportunities to apply Treasury technology solutions to improve business processes within the bureau and assists with implementing those solutions.
Maintains an electronic filing system for bureau administrative files.

Ability to acquire a basic understanding of investing including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
Ability to acquire in-depth knowledge of topics related to PA 529, PA ABLE, and Keystone Scholars and the ability to effectively convey the knowledge to others.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree;
or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full-time employment: 37.5 hour
Work hours: 8:00AM-4:30PM
Location: This position is headquartered in Harrisburg. This position is eligible for part time telework schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Management may discontinue the telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The location where you perform your telework must be located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
