Summary of Position*
In response to the expansion of additive manufacturing applications and markets in recent years, ASTM International established the Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE). Through collaboration among industry, government, and academia, the AM CoE addresses the need for industry standards. It achieves this goal through world-class advisory services, publications, workforce development, and other education and training activities that help expand and mature the AM industry.

The Q4 2021 acquisition of Wohlers Associates confirmed ASTM International’s commitment to AM. Wohlers Associates, powered by ASTM International, has provided technical and strategic consulting and other services for 35 years, while tracking developments and trends in AM. For 27 years, the company has published the Wohlers Report, which has served as the undisputed industry-leading report on AM for more than two decades.

The person filling this job will be expected to: *

Manage publications, including the Wohlers Report, interviews, podcasts, articles, blog posts, social media, and weekly industry briefings and reports for America Makes.

• Work with principal and associate authors, contributors, and supporting organizations for the Wohlers Report and develop interesting, accurate, and timely content driven by changes in the AM industry.
• Direct the collection and processing of data and information for presentation and publication, as well as non-published data.
• Assist with organizing and conducting hands-on design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) courses.
• Participate in and oversee client projects.
• Identify new and developing AM industrial applications, technologies, workflows, supply chains, and trends.
• Address and help resolve problems to create smooth and efficient workflows and identify inefficiencies and best-in-class processes and solutions.
• Consider new internal business models to meet industry and company demands.
• Manage Wohlers Report digital rights management system and analyze customer data to better understand purchasing trends.
• Support strategic development for new growth opportunities for Wohlers Associates and the AM CoE.
• Interview industry experts and customers of AM to gain perspective and insight.
• Conduct landscape analysis of emerging technologies related to AM, such as automation systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
• Exemplify the company culture to exceed expectations, seek to continuously learn and improve, and help support and lead the AM industry toward maturity.
• Participate in technical presentations and panels at industry events.

Minimum Qualifications*

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related technical area.
• Demonstrated ability to gather relevant information and identify key patterns and trends.
• Proven track record of data acquisition, analysis, and visualization.
• Ability to manipulate large and complex data sets and report clear insights and recommendations.
• Strong writing and other communication skills.
• Solid organizational and project management skills with a passion for learning new tools and methods.
• Self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work in a team with good interpersonal skills.
• Proven record of analytical thinking and problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications*

• Strong understanding of the impact of AM and the convergence of adjacent emerging technologies across various industries.
• Demonstrated experience in using project management tools such as Wrike and MS Project that can improve productivity and help complete projects on schedule.
• Good understanding of one or more areas complimentary to AM, such as automation, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft tools such as Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
• Advanced understanding of AM and its role in product development and custom and series production.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
• Experience in writing proposals and reports.
• Proven experience in with working on multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in parallel with one another.
