Job description
1. Supervises and directs the activities of personnel in the department.

2. Attends or elects Activity staff to attend Morning Report, Resident Care Plan Meetings, and Family or Staff Conferences as deemed necessary.

3. Completes or delegates Trained Activity staff to complete Initial, Quarterly, Annual, Significant Change Progress notes, along with care plans and MDS completion. Monitors Activity Staff completion of such documentation.

4. Plans and directs the general activity program.

5. Establishes departmental procedures and methods of operation of the Activity Department.

6. Establishes personnel policies of the Activity Department. Administers staff appraisal, employment and dismissal as indicated in conjunction with Director of Personnel.

7. Plans for the most efficient use of personnel, space, and equipment to afford the most effective leisure time and quality of life treatment to the greatest number of residents.

8. Requisitions supplies and equipment.

9. Submits monthly and annual reports to the Administrator for Quality Assurance purposes.

1. Submits annual budget to controller and Administrator.

1. Through staff conferences and in-service training programs, ensures understanding of the practical significance of the various techniques employed in activities of the accomplishment of objectives.

1. Recommends methods and procedures for coordinating activities with related resident care services.

1. Attends professional meetings and read professional journals and periodicals to maintain professional knowledge.

1. Maintain close and cooperative association with activity departments in other community agencies as well as other community groups.

1. Administer department in adherence of state codes regulation leisure time activities.

1. Submits to Administrator requisitions for payment of mate5rials, supplies, and cost of entertainment.

1. Recruits and orients Volunteers from the community. Ensures Volunteers are in compliance with state codes and regulations. Coordinates yearly Volunteer Appreciation In-service and Awards Recognition Meal. Maintains log of volunteer hours.

1. In-service Activity staff and keeps staff informed of State and Federal regulations.

1. Oversees Activity in-service education.
